Captain's Report: MK City vs Luton Hatters (4-7) and MK Bucks 2 (9-11)
City travelled to Luton on a sunny afternoon in early November to square up against home team Hatters and local rivals MK Bucks in the guise of Bucks 2.
Hatters were up first. We moved the ball well but they moved it a bit better, so despite a heroic hat trick from the very handsome Pete, we found ourselves 4-3 at half time. The second half saw us struggle to pass the ball out of defence under pressure from the well organised Hatters who also gave us lessons in 4 zero as they maintained their lead. Our only second half goal was a lovely distance shot from Cash and the game finished 4-7.
Straight on to Bucks 2! Not unusually we took the lead but Bucks came straight back at us and we found ourselves 3-5 down at half time. Once again it was a game heavily dominated by penalties at both ends and both teams had mixed success in conversion! In the second half we were tired and it showed as the game started to slip away and we were 5-9 down. Somehow we found some legs and inspired by the brilliant hat trick from distance by Claire on her City debut we fought back hard. Alas, we never managed to close the gap to less than 2 goals and so the game did eventually slip away with a final result of 9-11. It pains me to say it but a pretty good final result for us against the mighty Bucks. As ever I have many people to thank for stepping in at short notice particularly Kelly and well done on the running in shot on your City debut.
Thank you to Hugh from Hatters and Adam and Toby of Bucks for the refereeing and we look forward to the home draw.
